Focus cities are the cities you can create routes out of. Focus cities are the cities you can create routes out of. You can have up to 7 local focus cities (i.e. focus cities in the region you chose as your home in the beginning) or you can trade in two local focus cities for one foreign (i.e. anywhere outside your home continent).
It is also possible to create routes from bases of members of your alliance, providing that alliance base has enough alliance route slots still open and that you have a gate at that airport. Also, many alliances prefer that you have the permission of the alliance member before creating a route from their base.
